A teenager had his head stamped on by a gang of four men in Cleckheaton.

The attack happened in Primrose Lane at around 7pm last night when the 17-year-old boy was walking home.

He was approached by four Asian males and one of them asked him for the time.

He told the man he didn’t have his phone on him but the gang accused him of lying.

He was then grabbed by the jacket and rugby tackled to the ground.

Once on the ground the group began stamping on his head.

The victim managed to make his way to a friend’s house nearby and went to Dewsbury District Hospital.

A scan revealed no serious damage but he suffered significant bruising during the ordeal.

Det Insp Ian Thornes of Huddersfield CID said: “This appears to be a unprovoked attack with an unnecessary level of violence.

“This man was walking home, just minding his own business, when this group have taken it upon themselves to attack him on the ground.

“We are treating this as an isolated incident and would urge anyone who witnessed anything suspicious to get in touch.”

Anyone with information should contact police on 101.
